About Carpy

Welcome to my website, I am stoked that you have found time to sit down and take a small journey into yester year.
This little shop is what I really always dreamt of, and am living my dream to it’s fullest.
Located in Southern California, I have settled in a great part of the USA, Of course, I am creating Cafe Racer Motorcycles, as well as parts and Apparel etc. But I also have a huge passion for Hot Rod’s, as to me, they are just like the stripped down Motorcycles that I create and boy do they have tons of history too.
I hope you enjoy the pages of what I do and if I can help at all just drop me an email at Nostalgiaspeedandcycle@mail.com and I will do all I can to help. Also you can try nostalgiaspeedandcycle@mail.com as I have a secretary ( Mari) and she is pretty cool at helping you all out.
The phone lines get busy, but I am open from 8am-5pm and you can contact me on my shop phone at: 714-744 4597 now, if the machine comes on, I am either on the other line, packing and shipping parts or dropping a bike off, I will get back to you always.
I know I know, the ORIGINAL Cafe Racer was in fact a Brit bike, Triumph, Norton, B.S.A. etc etc.
Now as these are now hard to locate parts for and require so much servicing these days, I like to use my Metric set ups for simple running, speed and reliability.

I still love Brit bikes and have a triumph and I am building a Triton.
But my bread and butter has been the good old CB750 Honda.
I know to some purist it’s not their cup of tea, and I totally understand this, but what I do with the stock bike is give it a slight British styling that Honda should of brought out back in the day.

Unless you have ridden one of these machines, you really will not understand how fun, strong and easy to ride these Classic metric 4′s really are.
But let me just clear this matter up, Cafe Racers have been around in Europe since the 1940′s, and I hope they continue for many decades as yet.

I am just doing what I love, and I hope that you may like some of the things I do, many people have got the Cafe Racer bug now and that is so cool to see.
I built mine here in the states over 11 years ago in the O.C. and nobody had them at all, so to see many on the road now is just a great thing for me, i’ts a fun time and of course the camaraderie is priceless. Enjoy what ever you build into a Cafe, any brand is cool in my eyes.
I stick with the inline 4′s as the parts are easier and I have had many many of these, but have built Suzuki’s, Kawasaki’s and of course Bsa, Norton and Triumphs.
Just have fun with what you do and hope to meet you someday at a show.
Have fun and welcome once more to my Cafe Racer World.
Peace and Grease
CARPY

I have met many cool people and am stoked to meet all of you who I speak with, this is a fun job I have and with out you lot, it wouldn’t be.

Chica and me outside my garage at home.

A fun way to enjoy motorcycles and I always loved them even as a kid.

Look at all the New products on my parts page.
Peace and Grease
CARPY

Hi, I am Steve “Carpy” Carpenter and these are my many webpages dedicated to the great Honda CB750, especially when they are turned into a CAFE RACER.
Thanks for stopping by to check my website out, Obviously you are curious as to what a Cafe Racer Motorcycle is?
Well, along the way you will see what my style of Cafe Racer motorcycle is and my English heritage, shows in the Motorcycles I build, I have always loved Motorcycles and hopefully always will.
I moved from the UK and am now planted firmly in Californian Soil in Orange County, not too far from Disneyland.

My shop is in Orange Ca. where I am improving the size of the premisses to continue building my Signature Cafe Racers and have made many friends along the way.

If you enjoy the Motorcycles of yesteryear, then you will love mine.

Also stay tuned for MORE of my cool parts.
Things have been busy at the new shop, and I now have an order for TEN bikes to send to Australia, 5 up North of the country and 5 down south, as well as 2 more complete builds for the UK, which I am so stoked about.
I am making a lot more parts now and shall continue to make many more things and maybe even Frames next as well as more exhausts and hop up parts.
I have many idea’s I am trying to get together and slowly they are, a Dream come true for me.
I have lived the Cafe Racer lifestyle for many years now and still enjoy it as much today as I did all them moon’s ago.
I offer personal service and doubt Anybody is as fast as shipping as me, I like to help where I can and i push hard to make sure that you get what you are looking for.
My parts are all made in the USA, nothing farmed out to Asia. If I need stuff I cannot get in time, I will pay an American local company to help me and thats the way I have always been.
Many of you know me now and have become friends, I will be off to Ohio for the Vintage show there to meet people I have sold parts to all over the globe, then from there to Sturgis and then from there to Bonneville and then home raking up nearly Ten thousand miles in the process.
But worth it all to talk to you allot and hear whats going on.

Now moved into a bigger workshop and shall be expanding again later.

I grew up with this stuff and love all Motorcycles.

I really enjoy getting involved in the machine and turning it into something cool.
Below is my 1951 SUNBEAM that is still a cool bike in my eyes.

Motorcycles are part of my life, I have made allot of friends with these bikes.
My old T100 Triumph, I rode this all over London, boy was it fast.

I hope you enjoy my webpages and maybe light a fire under your Arse and get into your garage, shed or Kitchen and build your own CAFE RACER.

If ya like Cafe Racer motorcycles, I am sure there is at least one of mine that will get your mind rev-ving?

Updated DECEMBER 2011
Some people get a buzz out of Race horses, some get a tingle out of Nascar, some even get all wobbly over a dartboard, a pint of Lager and a pork pie.

Well, what turns my crank is a cool Cafe Racer, built from parts and resembles a stripped down factory bike and has more different parts than the Bionic Man.

Have a look through my website and get to know about these Crazy machines I build, and, other people own too, and I am sure you will find something that will make your eyes widen and your throat swell, Or was it the other way around?

I shall be updating over the next few weeks and hopefully these pages will appeal to you crazy people who dig Cafe Racers, especially CB750 HONDA fans.

I make my parts here at home and offer them for a great price and made really well.
I have a NEW workshop and my parts ARE designed by me, with a lot of thought and product testing, to make sure these things fit.

There are others out there too, and that’s nice to see these days, cant be bothered with all the slagging off these days, you know my products and that’s why many of you are repeat customers, thanks for standing by me and not think I am a Wanker.
.
I have done this since 1978 I was 16 years old and cafe’ my Suzuki AP50 in North London, and now I have grown to quite a well known company, my New workshop let’s me do allot more now and am gearing up for a bigger range of parts.

You all know who I am, I stand by my word and MY stuff fits, The competitors molds are cool but I really do make these as best as possible, MY own Molds are straight and I give 100% into everything I do, and I am sure you will enjoy the parts and bikes that I create.
This is a Fun and refreshing website and I am sure you will enjoy it..
I too am writing a book, so will need High Quality Photos and your name and what the bike is, be cool to have a real book on the stuff I grew up with and can share with everyone.
So I need more pics, get snapping people.
Especially your bikes, your garages and what you lot get up to at clubs or meets etc.

Also I am starting a small format magazine too, something cool and will have all your rides in it etc, so keep checking on the website, this is for all, does not have to be a Honda, all bikes can be a Cafe Racer, i have had 100′s of them from BSA to a Zundapp and all make exciting Cafe Racers.
Thanks for being part of my life, right now I have over 900, yes, 900 emails, so bare with me on the replies as it is JUST me who gets to them, plus build bikes, sell, pack and ship parts and many other things, but that’s what I wanted to do.
I traveled the IMS shows and met many Cafe Racer fans and cannot thank you all enough for coming by to say how cool it was to meet me and to chat about your rides and if I can help etc..
Our Scene is getting very strong now and major companies are actually taking notice, Harley are now building a limited edition Cafe Racer, there are many in the design studio’s right now, so check all the magazines, see, we can make a difference from the Norm.
Keep building and have fun ok?
My stuff is going to continue to grow on parts, from Complete built Motors now, Camshafts to have your Motor really hop and 836 kits, to my new 4 into 1 exhaust systems called TON UP PERFORMANCE.
I shall have them powder coated and fit them on my bikes and have a sound byte for you to listen too.
The exhaust system is a great deal and priced well and am sure you will like it, its not like a kerker or Mac etc and is just a new design but looks retro.

I am pricing them cheaper than modern pipes too, but these are the best in the world no kidding, soon as I have moine on the bike I shall add pictures, just bare with me as one pair of hands takes a little time.

I do not Make these, I have an exhaust company make them.

Also maybe some new clothing too and wait for it, HELMETS and GOGGLES, I am hoping to sell all the stuff so you can grab from one spot and be on the road.

The website will be updated regularly so keep checking back, as I shall be adding more photo’s of my rides, more parts for sale and also accessories.
Main reason for me selling these accessories is simple, I cant’ find them myself.
I hope to be having all sorts of cool Cafe parts available for CB750′s. And other Motorcycles.

ie Club-man bars, Cafe seats, Custom Cafe tanks, grips, exhausts and Cafe kits.
Also, I shall be trying out a couple of mpeg video down loads, so you can see and hear my bikes.
And definitely want readers rides, as you can have your Cafe on my site, just email me a cool photo and a small bit of info, name, state and your bikes mods.
Be kinda cool.

So like an old Piano….Stay tuned.

Ok Back again
Things have gone from strength to strength.
I have grown up with these.

I have been riding these over 30 years.
I built my FIRST Cafe many moons ago, Nostalgia Speed & Cycle was Established in 1978.
I had a Suzuki 50cc moped that I used clubman’s beat the tank, made a cool seat, used an expansion chamber, fitted a 100cc carb, and also I skimmed the head, by hand, using a plate of glass and sand paper.
It will always be in my blood this Cafe Racer fever,
I see many try and have a go, but they miss the mark as they never grew up with it.
But so cool to see others doing it over here, it’s fun, cheap and always looks unique.
Others follow, and that’s cool, we need more people out there, sure I know some people will think I am a &*nt as I am so into my bikes, but remember, this is my life, my only job, I have a business and a lovely bird i gotta keep happy, so this is truley my one passion.
I have always been around these style of bikes, and I also had many friends of my age that had the same interests, so we would go out and race around the streets and just enjoy what we could to our machines.
I loved dispatch riding and rode for MCP, Pony express and many more companies that still today advertise in Motorcycle News.
Riding in London or Europe is a complete eye opener on a motorcycle and I stripped my bikes down to Cafe’s, just to survive the crazy Taxi drivers and occasional Bus that wants to pull out in front of you..
These are how they were in Europe when I was a teenager on the road.
I used to go to the Road Races and met Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts , Rocket Ron Haslam, Joey Dunlop, Randy Mammola, Johnny Ciccoto etc, and followed their careers.
Never having enough courage to talk to them mind, but s a kid, seeing them in real life was such a buzz.
If I could not ride there myself, I would hitch hike with my skid lid.
Things are going great and boy is it a right laugh chatting to some of you.
Especially when you call and expect a Californian accent and then hear my real, Limey accent.
I am no fake, I am just me.
if you don’t like my stuff, that’s cool to, I hope you at least had fun reading what goes on here.

I have a few tv stations in talks with me right now and will let you know what comes about with this, as its all good news if it promotes Motorcycling.I love hearing from you all with how you have graized your knuckles but enjoy wrenching now, that is the best feeling in the world to me.Also I should be touring The land of the Rising Sun, where my SOHC machines were Originally assembled.
I really hope to go to Japan and see all of their Motorcycle factories.
I hope to tour the USA and Canada too, and meet some of you who have be kind enough to email me and inform me you enjoy what I do and inspire you to get back in the shed and turn a wrench.

I may be going to Sturgis this August 2012 too with CHICA Custom Cycles.
I went in 2009 and had a ball and was well received to be honest.
I would love to see Cafe’s that you have built, finished or not turn up as thats what it is all about.
I build for customers all over the world and into Japan now, a great thing is going of this and I am sure others will come of it.
Thanks for taking some time to check my website out, it is bigger than a ROAD MAP and easier to read.
I try and make it all scrollable.
But other features later, so watch out world, this is gonna be Crazy.

I built a Cool Cafe Racer for Mike Dirnt of GREENDAY and Boy do they dig Cafe Racers and all Motorcycle Nutters like me.
Allot of cool bands have approached me asking for parts or complete builds and all have been super cool to me.
I guess people take me as I am and that’s an Honest bloke that simply enjoys what he creates.
I am a True Cafe fan.
I have always been true, you get allot of hard work, and allot of history with my rides.

I have now been featured in Cycle world, Cafe Racer, Moto Plus, Motoradd, Back Street Heroes , Motorcycle Classic’s, All Metric Road bike, Back Street heroes, Bike Magazine, Riders review., Cycle city, Lightning (Japan) MOTOR CYCLE NEWS and I have 3 More magazine with features of me in it.
I am totally stoked that people come to see me and I must be doing something right.
Plus I have a magazine in Bulgaria coming over and I have a Japanese magazine coming over tomorrow.
I was stoked to make the cover shot on my Black K5 Cafe.
That Vincent styled Cafe Racer is now in Canada and Bear of Old bike Barn has it in his Office, great guy too.
I also have some TV stuff soon, I have been in the pipeline with a few companies but time restraints have held me back for a while.
All in all, life is good, I help where I can and I am sure most of you know what I do?
If ya don’t,- enjoy the experience of my website.

I have been invited to take my CAFE to JAPAN where I shall cruise all the Cafe shops and show what I have been doing for many years.
Share my time on this website.

I could add loads of comments that people have sent, but it would fill the website.
You make your own mind up.
Stay tuned for all sorts of parts soon.
Oil tanks, Gas tanks, air scoops, disc conversions. And some tricks never seen before.

Stick with someone who knows what he is on about.
I am a working class bloke, I didn’t have the money to go to college and have someone teach me, I had to learn it all myself.

This Brit who lives in California loves it here and has made many friends all over the globe.
Feel free to email me and ask questions etc.
I am the real McCoy, I will help and always answer emails.
You are all in a big family if you are into Cafe Racers.
